We were driving through Southern Nevada this past November 2016 and spotted this truck load. What are these?

Yep-- many folks don't realize that those big Diesels you see at the head-end of a train are really mostly electric generators-- that in turn power these wheels in each truck, and the diesel is not direct drive. It took a tour of the UP shops in Salt Lake in 1985 before I learned this.
