Check out the "fireless cooker" (air bottle) mining locomotive running at the Western Museum of Mining and Machinery; Colorado Springs, Colorado!

Two small mining locomotives on display at the Museum:

These type locomotives ran off either a stationary compressed air or steam source. They were often employed where there was a chance of possible fume explosions or fire as in mines, factories or warehouses and would be "recharged" at regular intervals from a fixed, stationary compressed air or steam line piped through the facility.





These locomotives could range in size from such small narrow gauge mining locomotives to much larger stand gauge
